Image: James Hoban's White House design, Maryland Historical Society

On March 13, 2008, WHHA held the James Hoban Symposium. The day-long event celebrated the Irish-born architect of the White House and was culminated with an award ceremony presenting Robert L. Breeden with the inaugural James Hoban Lifetime Achievement Award. Here are selections from the symposium and awards ceremony, including the making of the Hoban Award by the famed Waterford Crystal works in Ireland.
